Irish Coffee Mugs Show Off Hot Cocktail

Showing off a cocktail has never been done more elegantly than that of the Irish coffee mugs. These mugs were chosen specifically to hold one of Ireland's favorite drinks Irish coffee which is now served not only in Ireland but in America as well. There is actually a story as to how the first cup of Irish coffee was invented. When the drink was first invented there were a couple of issues with the cream but the inventers persevered and Irish coffee became known as it is today.

The inventor of Irish coffee was Joseph Sheridan who was the head chef to the airport in the west of Ireland during the 1940's. It was a cold and damp winter evening and as some American traveler's arrived at the airport Mr. Sheridan wanted to warm up the guests so he added a little whisky to their coffee. Someone asked if the drink was Brazilian Mr. Sheridan promptly answered that it was Irish coffee and continued serving the drink.

A period travel writer for a San Francisco paper brought the drink over to America and it was first served at the Buena Vista Café in San Francisco on November 10, 1952. However they did have a little trouble getting the cream to float on top of the coffee and had to have the assistance from the mayor at that time Georg Christopher who also owned a diary. His suggestion of allowing the cream to cure over a 2 day period worked it was then poured into a heated treated goblet which was the start of Irish coffee mugs.

Choosing to make Irish coffee will mean making sure there are Irish coffee mugs on hand for family and friends to enjoy the taste, the look and the smell of this cocktail. This cocktail was originally created to help warm passengers up and today the mugs are used as well to continue to warm visitors and loved ones that travel to see family who live distances apart.

The American writer who brought the drink to America did not stop until a solution was found that would complete the drink and then he was able to make it popular through his column. However these days it may just be the Irish coffee mugs that still make this drink a popular one not only in Ireland but also throughout the United States.

Enjoying any hot drink from any design from the selection of Irish coffee mugs can be a special treat for families and friends these days. In fact families can invent their own traditions and drinks to go right along with these mugs to make every gathering elegant and special. However it is suggested when using cream for hot drinks that may go into these mugs it may be best in this day and age to use already made whipped cream. Children of all ages will even enjoy just a simple glass of hot chocolate with some whipped cream to sip on as they look at it through the choice that was made out of all the Irish coffee mugs.
